Meeting new people can be challenging, and Jointly is here to change that. Jointly is an app to make meeting up with people in your area easier and to help you do it in a way that is natural and comfortable to you. At least, that is our mission. As we are starting out this new meet up app, we found it important to share our vision on how to achieve that with you. Read on to see how we plan to make meeting new people easier and more enjoyable.
Jointly.. what?
First things first, how does it work? Jointly allows you to create an activity the way you want it. We aim to help you skip small talk and start with a shared purpose. To personalise your way of meeting up with people, you can choose the activity type (f.e. boardgame evening, bowling, sports, trying a new restaurant...). You also decide the place, the amount of people welcome and the audience. Others can then apply to join you. After breaking the ice via chat, you can then schedule your activity and go for it. Our ambitions however, reach further than the app. We want to create a community where people don't experience barriers in meeting others and where everyone in the community is open for new social connections.
Meeting up with the people you decide
When you want to meet up with new people nearby and form genuine connections, you don't want to meet up with just anyone, right? That is why we find it important that you are in control on who can join you. Firstly, you have full control over who sees your activity. You can f.e. set the age and gender of who can see your activity and with the premium subscription, you have even more options. Secondly, by asking all applicants 3 questions that are interesting to you. You can, for example, ask applicants if they often play board games, how fast they cycle, what kind of food they like... Whatever info you need to make your decision on them joining your activity and to make sure you'll have an enjoyable experience together.
Friendship or Dating?
Let’s make it clear: Jointly is built for friendship. There are enough apps for dating already so we designed our process around making new friends. We want to give a solution for people who are open to new social contacts, but want to avoid the pressure and awkwardness dating can bring. Here are some of the features to help with that: 1. people need to add an intent to their activities. Each activity lists the host’s intent, so participants know if the meetup is meant for casual friendship, trying out an activity, or potentially exploring romance. 2. Next to that, you can also meet up via the app with only a particular audience in mind, avoiding potential suitors. While dating isn’t completely off the table via Jointly, we do want openness about it and give you the option to avoid it. People that are not true to the intent they communicated, will be discouraged from using the app.
Jointly's business model
To conclude, we also want to share our vision on the business model. We will be providing the option for a premium subscription to Jointly users. However, opposed to many other social connection platforms, we will avoid making paying users the most popular or more importantly, we don't want non-paying users getting the feeling that they are starting from behind. That's why in Jointly, the premium subscription will focus on comfort features and on having more options in setting up your activities to personalise them even more (f.e. getting more audience filters such as interests, political views, etc). All of this is of course, how we see it in an ideal world. Let's see how we can get there together!
